The elegant portal to nowhere has turn into a sweet path to the belly.
Such thoughts have been entertained normally in the past few weeks near Second and Locust streets, where the one-time entryway to a fancy early 20th century apartment building has been changed into Chilly Willy's Ice Cream.
Customers like the ice cream, which includes the only soft-serve in the immediate downtown area, according to Yvonne Sauble, general manager.
But many look past the tubs of cookies 'n' cream and strawberry-cheesecake-flavored ice cream and savor the architectural riddles posed by the building. For years, it stood only as a narrow and idle wedge of brownstone and brick.
